Marie Curie launches new Newquay and District Fundraising Group
Volunteers from the Newquay area have formed a new fundraising group and will be working on behalf of the charity organising lots of exciting events, running the national appeals like The Great Daffodil Appeal and Blooming Great Tea Parties. The group held their first meeting at The Atlantic Hotel and plan to meet once a month.
Group Chairman, Marianne Dingle, said “We are very excited about working as a group to raise valuable funds to support the local Marie Curie Nursing Service. Our first big event will be our ‘Diamonds Are Forever Ball’. This will be held on Saturday 22 October at The Atlantic Hotel. Tickets are now available from the The Cornwall Fundraising Office on 01872 260500. We also welcome any new members, if interested in finding out more please contact the office above”.
Community Fundraiser, Lynda Thomas, said “Fundraising Groups play a vital role in helping Marie Curie not only raise funds within their areas but helping raise awareness of the services provided. We’re here for people living with any terminal illness, whether it’s cancer or any other illness, and their families. We offer expert care, guidance and support to help them get the most from the time they have left. Our nurses work night and day, in people’s homes across the UK. And we help people by giving practical information, support from trained volunteers and being there when someone wants to talk.”
